mission of Public InteractiveŽ is to support and facilitate the on-line
initiatives of local, community-based public broadcasting stations.
Acting as a responsible member of the public broadcasting system,
considering and safeguarding the "public sensibilities" and privacy of
both public television and public radio audiences and contributing
productively to public trust and the formation of social capital are
all key to our success.
As the Internet changes the relationship of program listeners and
viewers to national programs and distributors, local community-based
broadcasters must increasingly focus on the interactive engagement of
their audience with relevant social issues. With public television and
radio stations as both key investors and strategic partners, the
collaborative process of development and implementation at the local
community level is a critical aspect of Public Interactive's mission
and growth.
