1. PULSE EMAIL MARKETING COMING SOON

We're pleased to tell you that we're on schedule with the development of our much-anticipated integrated email marketing product. Moreover, it has a name: Pulse.

Pulse is slated for release in Summer 06. As with all of our products, our work with stations has informed our approach and shaped the development of the features and functionality within Pulse

Some of the unique features include:
  • The ability to easily integrate specialized content into your newsletters from your existing content modules.
  • The ability to send automated messages, based on parameters you choose, such as renewal date.
  • The ability to allow your listeners to opt in for special customized notifications--many of which can be automated:
  • Send listeners breaking news updates
  • Distribute pledge drive/support bulletins
  • Provide the latest information on their favorite programs
  • Offer articles about their favorite hosts and musicians
As a result, the product will help you foster a more interactive, multi-layered relationship with your listeners; further enriching their lives with quality programming and in return, receiving more support and feedback from the listening community.

We're working steadily and as the launch date approaches, you will hear more from us!

2. PUBLIC ACTION IN DEVELOPMENT

Earlier this year, Public Interactive received funding from the Omidyar Network to develop an online community engagement and social networking application designed specifically for public broadcasters. This new product will be called Public Action and Public Interactive has partnered with a vast cross section of public radio and television stations as well as program producers to ensure that it meets the needs of public broadcasting community.

Through Public Action, stations and program producers will be able to cultivate extensive, interactive online communities based around their programming by starting online conversations around online content. This content can include program postings, event postings, and reviews.

The system will allow Web users to create user profiles and to participate in these conversations directly through this content. Station and program websites will also be able to highlight any Public Action discussion on their home pages.

We're continuing development of Public action through the fall, with an aim for limited release by the end of the year. We'll keep you updated on all the progress.

3. NEW PRICING

In just a couple days, we'll announce the price update for the coming year. Last year brought sweeping additions to your Public Interactive product suite--most notably the release of JukeBox and the release of Public Platform (with many stations taking advantage of Platform this past year) at no additional cost, and upgrades and improvements across our other modules--as well as lowered on-demand and podcasting costs and increased on-demand storage allowances.

...and if you thought the past year was exciting, just wait till you see what's happening next!

In the coming months, we'll release our highly-anticipated integrated email marketing product, Pulse™ (scheduled Summer 06) as well as Public Action--our online community engagement and social networking application.

The new information will include preliminary cost information for Pulse, currently in development, to allow for budgeting. Each station will receive an email at the end of this week, and we'll also send your station the details via mail shortly thereafter.

4. JUKEBOX™ SUCCESS AND UPGRADES

In January, we launched JukeBox™ and to date, we couldn't be more pleased with the success!

Many stations have been working with the product, setting up their own station-branded JukeBoxes for their podcasts and on-demand media. Here are a handful currently using JukeBox:

HPPR http://www.hppr.org/
KCCU http://www.kccu.org/
KUAR http://www.kuar.org/
KXCI http://www.kxci.org/
UPR http://www.upr.org/ ("Podcasts & Audio Files")
WKMS http://www.wkms.org/
WNKU http://www.wnku.org/
WUAL http://www.apr.org

Many others are in the process of setting up their JukeBoxes and adding content. Over 46 stations use JukeBox for their podcasts!

JukeBox is included with existing services at no additional cost for stations using our core package. To set up a tour, contact us at techsupport@publicinteractive.com.

JUKEBOX V 1.2 RELEASE

Given the high interest in JukeBox, we quickly buckled down to add even more features! The result is JukeBox Version 1.2, released at the end of March. Among other exciting changes, now you can offer video podcasts. Here's what's new:

  • Video podcast capabilities have been added! Contact us for specifications
  • We've added auto-subscribe links to the podcast pages. Links are now available for Google, PodNova, NewsGator, MyYahoo and Odeo
  • The Author field now displays on the Podcast tab
  • Applicable Categories, Programs and Sections are now displayed while editing your podcasts
  • We added a "private podcasts" option, which allows you to choose not to display a podcast on the Podcasts Tab and distribute it through other means
  • The default number of Programs and Categories shown on the "Featured Media" section has been set to four for optimum viewing
  • Faster-loading detail windows (viewed when hovering over a media file or podcast link)
  • Added ability to enter "Additional Podcasts" to your custom directory manually by entering the podcast's URL
  • Improved error handling
  • When editing within the "Manage All Media" section, you remain within "Manage All Media" section after saving changes to a file instead of returning to the Tools Index page, improving usability
  • Specific tabs can now be hidden in JukeBox upon request. Contact us to request removal of tabs
  • Ability for stations to share their custom podcast directory with others
