1. PULSE EMAIL MARKETING LAUNCHING SOON
We're launching our new email marketing product, Pulse, on October 30th!
For the past few months our diligent beta stations have been testing the product's functionality and features. Based on their feedback, we've improved Pulse to make the system even more user-friendly, to better integrate with membership systems, and to completely meet the overall needs of public broadcasters.
Some feature highlights include:
Data Sync Tools--create custom import/export filters and map the database fields to existing membership databases smoothly and easily.
Detailed Reporting--reporting tools allow you to see the results of your promotions—right down to the individual user. View user profiles to see the list of emails they've received, opened and, view their click-through history. Track the effectiveness of campaigns, analyze data and send targeted emails to people who clicked on specific links.
Demographic Fields--import pledge-related information into pulse and use that information to personalize content in your e-fundraising efforts, or gather interest information right on your sign up form and use it to send targeted emails to recipients based on their interests.
Newsletter Wizard--use pre-built, customizable templates to easily generate newsletters with content from Public interactive modules and RSS feeds. Scheduling tools allow you to set the frequency of newsletters and automate the process.
Sign-up Form Builder--fully customize opt-in forms, collect personal information, and send targeted emails to specific users. Use easy management tools to drill down to an individual user's profile, so you can view their information, set history and edit information with ease.
We're working steadily as the launch date approaches. In the meantime, see our online Pulse demo: http://demo.publicinteractive.com/pulse.html.

2. PUBLIC ACTION NEARING BETA
As you know, we're working intensely on our new community engagement and social-networking product, Public Action. We're nearing the end of the development phase, and are gearing up for limited release to our partners later this Fall.
With support from the Omidyar Network, we're tailoring this online community engagement and social networking application specifically for public broadcasters. We have partnered with a cross-section of public radio and television stations as well as program producers to ensure that it meets the needs of public broadcasting community.
Through Public Action, your station staff and program producers will be able to cultivate extensive, interactive online communities based around programming by starting online conversations around your content.
The tool set will let you leverage existing programs, web features, and important topics in your community, while opening up the discussion to your audience. User-generated content helps take the discussion to the next level; integrating users' text, audio, video, and photos.
Public Action invites users to create profiles and participate day after day, opening the door to community-generated content. Opt-in profile data is easily exported for use by membership and development teams, if desired.
On the broadcaster side, moderators gain the tools to maintain the quality and integrity of the conversation, encouraging meaningful audience participation. The resulting user generated-content can enhance both on-air and online offerings. As always, Public Action will come with an elegant administrative tool set, enabling you to set up varying moderation styles, usage polices, and portable dynamic content feeds.
We'll continue development and testing of Public Action through the coming months, with an aim for limited release by the end of the year. Would you like to learn more? 3. PUBLIC ARTS AND PUBLIC NEWSROOM UPGRADES
We're gearing up for some powerful new upgrades to our legacy products: Public Arts and Public Newsroom!
Public Newsroom Priority System Live!
We recently upgraded Public NewsRoom, adding a new Priority System. You can now set the order of your local content in your NewsRoom! Arrange your local stories in any order you choose, regardless of their publish date, and point visitors to the most important stories of the hour.
http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/xxxx/news.newsadmin
(substitute your call letters)
Click "Edit NewsRoom," and then click to edit a section. You'll see two buttons that appear next to each headline of locally-published content piece. The buttons are labeled Move Up, and Move Down, and they do exactly that. They allow you to move a story up and down within the list, allowing you to prioritize your content in any way you like. Order is updated in real time, so the changes are immediate. The default story order is by date, with the most recently published listed on top.
In addition, we're entering the development phase for Public NewsRoom 3.0! We're compiling a list of new features that will go into the upgrade and will be starting soon. We'll keep you posted!
New Feature for Public Arts
The next change you'll see in the coming weeks is a new feature in Public Arts. Currently in Arts, you can customize your arts content by adding new custom sections or renaming current ones. However, the existing sections that come standard with the system cannot be hidden. Well, once our new tools are in place, you'll be able to turn sections ‘on' or ‘off' as you see fit! More changes will follow.

4. OVER 162 STATIONS
Thanks to your continued support for our products and services, Public Interactive now serves over 162 clients, that service over 300 stations!
This 162 is not just a number--it's an affirmation that we're succeeding in our mission to help Public Broadcasters make the most of modern web technology. It's proof that by paying close attention to the needs of TV and radio stations, we can build customized products better-suited for the realm of Public Broadcasting.
More stations means that we're getting more feedback on everything we do everyday and we can continue to strengthen our offerings and develop new products to meet your needs. Thank you for being a part of our growth and we look forward to more success!

5. PUBLIC PLATFORM USAGE ON THE RISE
Of the 162 stations mentioned above, 43 of those are now taking advantage of Public Platform™, our fully-hosted, custom-built content management system that lets station staff create and maintain their own Web pages.
With Platform your station gets free hosting services, free email, easy page construction and integrated content feeds from your other modules. In addition, if your station is using Platform, Public Interactive's Traffic Reporter™ will show you traffic patterns across all your pages AND all your modules. Get a birds-eye view of traffic across your whole site! To access your site traffic reports, go here: http://platform.publicbroadcasting.net/xxxx/reporter
(Substitute your station for the 'xxxx').
Because all of our stations are unique, we designed Public Platform to be flexible enough to meet your individual challenges. For those with small staffs, Platform allows for easy building--creating pages full of content with just a few clicks! For those stations that have access to skilled web designers, Public Platform is extremely customizable, allowing specialized designs to be imagined and executed. Here are a few examples:

PRI: http:/www.pri.org

And it doesn't take a team of experts to put a stylistic touch on a Platform site. The following examples were created and maintained by stations with less than one full-time web person:
